Topamax/Topiramite (sp?). Has anyone been put on it for GAD or Panic Disorder? I'm new here and I will get around to telling my story but I just turned 22 last month, have been on several SSRIs (Paxil... Living hell... Celexa, Lexapro, Wellbutrin, Prozac, etc!) prescribed by doctors as a means to try to get my GAD and PD under control, to no avail. A new psychiatrist has put me on Topamax. It is primarily used to treat seizures or serious migraines so it is being used off-label but so far it seems to be working better than the SSRIs did. I am not getting my hopes up but I will be optimistic. It has also worked in a different way than the SSRIs in the sense that I am losing weight. I can get used to this. Lol. I'm not heavy to begin with but I don't mind losing a few pounds! I am currently at 100 mgs. Started at 25. Increased slowly. Going to get up to 200. See how it works. The bad side effect to this medicine is paresthesia (numbness and tingling of the fingers and toes and it can be intense and times!). But if it is working for my anxiety, I will take tingling any day
anyway I will stop rambling. Hopefully someone else out there has some experience w/ Topamax. I tried looking but I am on my phone and not a computer. Have a good day everyone!
