Day 4 on Meds 13 Years, 3 Months ago
Today is day 4 on Zoloft. I've tried two other antidepressants in the past without much success. I know there is heightened anxiety when you start a new med but I am feeling very uncomfortable today. Lots of heart palps and high pulse along with feeling very agitated. Should these symptoms have passed by day 4...or can I look forward to more fun over the next few days. I guess I'm wondering if I should consider stopping this med too. Does anyone know how long it can take for the start up side effects to end? Thanks for any input.

Call your Dr., but don't stop taking the Zoloft before talking with your Dr. Just explain what's going on. We are all different so any advice given may not apply to you. That's why you should contact your Dr. Take care.....Ed

I have (currently weaning off and onto new drug) zoloft for 10 years. In the beginning I remember my anxiety got worse for about a week. Are you still on Zoloft? How is it going?
I am cross tapering onto lexapro right now and my anxiety is through the roof. My pdoc keeps reassuring me that it might have to get worse before it gets better. He told me to really give it a full 4-6 weeks before we can decided anything.
Call you doctor though, if you haven't already. Maybe you just need to go slower.

Today is day 10 on Zoloft and I'm feeling better than the original post when I was having the palps and aggitation. I decided to ride out the side effects and give it a good try before giving up. Like everyone else I am just so tired of the anxiety and panic in my life and this time I am going to try harder than I have in the past to feel better.

Although the worst side effects are gone...yeah!!, I am still not feeling the full effect of the Zoloft. I know it will take awhile. In addition to taking the medication I have cut out caffeine and sugar. I am walking in the fresh air every day and have taken a leave from work. I know I will have to deal with the wrath of an angry boss when I return but I hope my mind will be in a better place by then and not be so intimidated by her behavior. Hey...perhaps I'll feel good enough to find a new job altogether. Hope is what I have right now.
