Blood test results

Ok so I decided to finally act upon one of my concerns lately, that maybe all of my anxiety problems were being caused by my thyroid because of my mothers history with her thyroid problems.  Blood tests came back and they were negative but there were two things that now have me wondering....

1 - I have a high allergy to dairy, which pretty much means that I'm lactosintolerant.  Normally I wouldn't get myself worked up over this but I remember reading something a year or so ago that people who are schizo are often lactose.  Anyone else remember reading anything like this that could clear this up for me?  I really stay away from WebMD as much as possible so I really don't want to go reading through articles to see if that's true because I might find something else.

2 - For the 2nd blood test in a row....I had one done the summer of 09 as well, it came back with low testosterone levels.  Both times the doctors (2 different doctors) said that they didn't believe it was low enough to really be causing a problem, but definetly said it was low for my age.  I did a little reading up on this and I read that it can cause sleeping problems, trouble focusing, and depression.  I also know that it could be a result of the depression though, so it's kind of hard to tell.  Anyways, I really do believe the bigger problem for me is the anxiety.  If the anxiety would just leave, I would be able to cope with the depression easily I believe.  So I guess my question here is, do you think that these 2 low tests in a row could be something worth looking into some more and that it could be causing all these problems for me?  And secondly, can low testosterone cause high anxiety levels in men?

I don't know if low testosterone can cause anxiety but you could ask the doctor for something to help raise the levels. My husbands friend had low testosterone and his doctor gave him a testosterone cream which he just has to rub into his shoulder. You could always try it and see if it makes a difference.

Mike,
I believe that our bodies are much more delicate in their harmonies than western medicine tends to say. If you feel you've hit on something, you probably have. I doubt it's the whole problem, but it sounds to me like a piece of the puzzle. About the lactose thing, I don't know specifically, but I DO know that food allergies ABSOLUTELY can mess with our emotions. I highly recommend completely cutting out the lactose and compensating properly for it. If you can, it might be a good idea to see a Naturopath. Or buy some books on food allergies. As for the testosterone, I think it probably is also having an effect. I recently had to go on hormone pills because my hormones and menstrual cycle have been out of whack for over a year. It's kind of a chicken-or-egg thing as to how the hormones are related to the depression and anxiety, but either way it should be dealt with. I've also been told that being overweight messes with hormones sometimes. I don't know if you've gained weight subsequent to having mood problems, but you may want to look at that as a piece of the puzzle too. It's complicated, but the more we can break it into tiny, manageable pieces, the easier recovery will become.
Best of luck,
~ Aimmy

Hey there,

I dont know which country you are from so this may not be correct information.

I had a thyroid and cortisol test done that showed my levels were within normal range. What I didnt know is that the tests your GP will do are not accurate. There are I think 3 different TH levels that need checking, and depending on who you get your information from, depends on what levels are acceptable.
I would suggest a cortisol test, this needs to be a saliva test, taken at several points during the day. I can dig information out on this for you if you are interested.
Please dont get worked up about it, because I believe that all dis-ease starts with our thoughts. I'm battling a chronic incurable dis-ease now caused by my anxiety problem. The emotional does manifest in the physical, but our thoughts can change it back I promise you.
I think that if we support our physical bodies back into health it will help the emotional too. If you experience say a jittery heartbeat because your adrenals are out of sync, being prone to anxiety is going to make you think oooh im anxious...and perpetuate the problem further.

As for your schizophrenia fears, let me tell you I have met with a Dr who actually cured someone who was in a mental institution for schizophrenia. This lady had such severe food allergies it had caused her brain chemicals to go haywire. Most of these problems that conventional medicine says are diseases, incurable etc etc are NOT.

You're not schizophrenic either, when people have really lost it, they arent anxious or concerned about losing it. I was told by a therapist that you cant be insane and have an anxiety panic problem.

Love & Light to you friend, if I can be of any assistance to you at all, do not hesitate to message me.

Self Diagnosis
Hey Mike,

I have been reading your blog for a little while now and I really feel like your walking into something I once did. Over the last 3 years I've learned one thing through all of my anxiety, panic, DRs, blood tests, ER visits, etc... and that is that the MIND is a very very VERY powerful thing. Anxiety is not just mental. It will begin to mimic so many other diseases, EXPECIALLY if you start looking for them. It will create changes physically inside your body.

It's important to get tests done, sometimes its even important to get second opinions, but beyond that you begin to give into your anxiety and you start down a vicious cycle. If you cant trust one or two doctors, you will begin to question everything.

I spent a lot of time reading about my conditions, and visiting forums which im sure is where your at...and trust me, it does no good. You can't take medical advice from someone on a blog and you can't follow something that you read....every case is so SO specific that you need to trust YOUR doctor. I feel its important to not just pick your first doctor, but to visit several until you find one you are comfortable with.

I remember finding relief when I read a forum about heart palpitations. If I read someone who had a good experience I would instantly feel relieved, if I read something from someone who had a bad experience, I would all of the sudden feel terrible. What happens is you begin to rely on that information. Information that has nothing to do with you, even if you think there is a connection, there is not. It is false.

Now I think forums serve a great purpose. And that is encouragement, open discussion, community building, but don't fall into the trap of self diagnosis. It is a terrible road and there are steps you need to take to get yourself onto the right track.

After getting out of the whole anxiety mess, with countless long anxiety filled nights, I decided to take what I've learned and create a project to help others like me. I called it Project: I Wanna Live Again. It is a Project I have founded to offer support. If you have a chance check it out, its new and in its early stages, but I am hoping to really help people prevent the long hard path I had to take with my anxiety.

Best of luck Mike! Stay in touch -

Rich

I have never heard that statement before and I study psychology. I am also involved in schizophrenia research and still never heard that.Anyway, even if it is true, it does not mean anything. Being lactose intolerant is not a high risk for developing schizophrenia.

Your cure will be 100%
Hi:

You are deficient on Vitamin D3. Have a vitamin d3 (25-OH0 done at a good lab. Then take the results to an endocrinologist to receive treatment.

I was a victim of panic disorder for forty years. Accidently
I found out that I am low on vitamin D3. After intense treatment. all symptoms of PD, and depression vanished.
You will be cured 100% in a short while.

Best wishes,
Ali
