Stressful times 7 Years, 5 Months ago
I'm bad at dealing with stress... I try to not let it get to me, but my hands shake, and there's a lump in my throat that I can never swallow. My anxiety makes it almost impossible, because thinking about the stuff that needs to get done paralyses me, and when things don't get done, I get even more anxious, and as a result I become even more paralysed. Deadlines are the bane of my existence. I can't breathe, and I just sleep forever, but I also struggle to sleep. I'm so stressed I struggle to fall asleep, but once I sleep, I just sleep and sleep and sleep, because once I get up I have to deal with.... everything.

I'm sorry you're going through a difficult time. I used to feel the same especially at the close of Holiday season. Bad enough dealing with getting through the festivities and all that comes with it but the aftermath and everyday to-dos were too much to think about. My saving grace was I found that the perfectionist in me would not allow me to miss deadlines. Just a note: I still haven't taken down the Christmas decorations, but I will when I'm good and ready.

Anxiety and depression go hand-in-hand. Vicious cycle. We sleep to escape the tiresome stress and stress when we've run out of time. Don't be too hard on yourself. Remove yourself from the stressful environment from time-to-time and give yourself breathing space. Exercise and stay active with family and friends to take the edge off. Laughter is great stuff and relieves the stress.

In accomplishing your tasks. Take deep breaths, clear your mind of the to-do list, do one task at a time and work at your own pace. Too often we become our own worst taskmaster.

If you're in therapy and/or meds let Dr. know what's happening. I know it may be difficult given the physical symptoms we experience, but give it a try and come back and let us know how you're doing. Wishing you the best in this New Year, anxiety free! Hugs . . .
