Hello again! You're right, meditation is an excellent way to calm things down so as not be become overwhelmed. Glad you're learning from your clinic and know you'll benefit from what you'll learn there. Have you talked to Dr. about your meds? He can help to wean you back down to a more manageable dosage now that you've incorporated clinical therapy as part of your treatment. Xanax is one the most addictive of benzos so be careful. Where Xanax's effects are short-lived, you might want to ask about changing your meds to something longer-lasting like Klonopin. Whatever your choices, I wish you well in your treatment . . . hugs

I've tried meditation with mixed results. I find it helps my general anxiety but not panic attacks. I'm such a hypochondriac though, whenever I sit and try to mediate the only thing I feel is my heartbeat and I hate that! I think it is beating too fast or too slow. It freaks me out.

There are medicines that will let you sleep tight. You won't be bothered to be awaken through midnights. You can sleep snugly. Meditation is also a good alternative of healing anxiety disorder. One meditation is (CBT) Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Ask for a psychiatry to try this therapy on you. There are also meditation that you can download or purchase. Meditation will let you feel relax. It will let you focus on thinking a particular topic that you like to think of. It will let your sense work specially in this meditation. You will be ask to feel the texture of an object, smell the scent, and look closely on the figure anything that will make most out of your senses. You will use your conscious to complete this task.
