Going through the transition

Ashley is situated in PA.  My mom is temporarily living with my sister to be there for Ashley.  Ashley is having a great time with her two little cousins and will start to PreSchool with the 4-year old cousin next week.  I have had to buy my mom an inexpensive car to go to and from school while she is staying with Ashley (45 minutes away from her school at Penn State).

I miss her alot......but know that this is what has to be done.  I am going for a visit on Sept 18th to see her.  I plan to go every month until our house sells here in PA and I can move back.

My husband is not handling things well.  He has been to the ER again and has taken a 2 week leave form work to attend a program his psychiatrist wants him to attend.  I am trying to work out positive solutions for him to have the maximum time with Ashley.  He seems to be receptive to that but needs to get over the "barriers" in his mind about how everything is too hard to do or unobtainable.  I feel bad for him but I am letting him be an adult and deal with his issues.  I listen to him but am not getting too wrapped up in it.

I am working out everyday...taking advantage of some free time!!  I am having some anxiety at times but overall not too bad.  Thanks to all of you here who have helped me along this far!!!!  lamy

Hi lamy - so glad to see you're taking care of yourself!!

It's hard to let go of your husband's feelings and allow him to feel them and work them out, but honestly that's about the only way he'll really be able to deal with them. We all have to, at some point, simply deal with the realities of life.

Meanwhile, it sounds like you have a great set-up and a wonderful family.

Good luck - keep us posted!

Hi lamy,
Although you miss Ashley, it sure sounds like it really is the best situation for now.
I'm thinking of you, and hoping the rest of it sorts itself out.
Hang in there!

Thanks Cindy and Sonya~your support always means so much to me. I AM missing my baby so much. She is having a great time but I feel so sad sometimes thinking of missing this time with her......although I know it is a necessity and she is fine. It's especially been hard becasue I had a difficult case at work this week where this teenager was brought into custody after driving drunk and killing his teenaged passenger. It makes me want to have Ashley close by and never let her go....It's so scary to realize that you can't always protect them out there in the world. lamy
