Feeling better as of late, but I suspect my cluster headaches are coming back.  For those of you who just said, 'what are cluster headaches?", I implore you to google it.  It is a living hell. If in fact they are returning, I can expect a 2-3 month hell of daily migraine type headaches.  Let's hope it is just the weather and allergies.

I am starting to think that my anxiety starts when I finally have a chance to relax and I realize how uptight and stresses I have been.  I just went through a 4 month stint coaching baseball and dealing with some really deranged parents.  The whole time I was stressed but never had any anxieety issues.  Now that it is over, and I feel like fifty pounds have been removed from my shoulders, now I fell anxious.  What is up with that?  I can finally afford to relax and now I mentally can't.  What the hell?  Maybe it is because I have more time to second guess myself and question how I handled certain situations.  I gotta give up this coaching nonsense and just watch my kid from the stands.  And make sure I am not one of "those" parents.

Hi Tim - this is exactly how I first got Panic Attacks... AFTER the stressful situation had passed. I think that's one reason it was so hard to diagnose, because I wasn't under stress at the time!

Take care of yourself and make a point to do some deep breathing, some gentle exercise and some meditation while relaxing. SOmetimes it is not so much the relaxing as it is the lack of focus.

Think about your eyes. Sometimes they get a blurry kind of focus. But if you need to read you can focus on the page.

Well, I think relaxation and body tension is like that. During stressful times our bodies are focused. We don't feel "anxious" even when under stress.

Then we have free time or vacation and we start to feel the anxiety. But it may be because we don't have a focus. So during these "relaxing" times we need to do some focusing.

A friend taught me about "walking meditation." I walk slowly, head down, with a meditative mind. Usually focusing on breathing and feeling all the sensations in my feet for about 5 minutes. then I focus on about eye level. Trees, mailboxes, whatever is in my eyesight. Then upward...tree tops, birds, clouds. Staying focused and walking slowly and deliberately.

It is a "practice" -- not mindless, not exercise, no agenda. It is a relaxation practice. But it is also kind of active and the movement helps me stay focused.

Give it a try. Take good care of yourself.
