What is it about Little League baseball that makes parents so nuts? Even the level headed parents that I expect normal cool heads from turned crazy. Does every parent think their kid is the next major league player? Get a grip! Most of these kids won't even play high school baseball. As the coach I realize there is an inherent blame when our team loses but I can't play the game. All I can do is put the right kids in the right spots and hope they do their best. If they don't perform is it my fault? I practice with these kids almost every day and if they can't get a hit, is it my fault? I understand the parents of the kid who does not get much playing time. It must be frustrating. But the kid that plays a lot and has a bad game, am I to blame? NO, he didn't get the job done. Instead of telling him 'not your fault' or 'nothing you could do about that', tell him 'good try, get up there next time and try again.' How about taking some time and practicing with him. Stop paying ridiculous money to someone to fix him and work with him yourself. It is great father-son time. Anyway, as you can tell we lost last night and face elimination on Wednesday. Part of me wants this to be over so I can start to enjoy my summer. Another part feels bad for the kids. Argh.......
