So, 8 months down.

I have to say it has been much different than I thought it would be.  I miss my best friend everyday.  I have it better than most..he is in a relatively safe area and maybe travels once a month.  We have pretty regular communication.

We all handled the transition after R&R very well.  A lot of my friends had rough times with it.

My good friend's husband will be coming home sometime in July - 2 months early.  I am happy for them, but also a little jealous.  My hubby's unit won't come back early.   Everyone keeps asking will mine get to get home early.  Feels like they are rubbing it in.

Spent the weekend balancing relaxing and working.  Hard for me to do, but did it ok.
