Alcohol and panic

It has been 7 months since my major panic blow out and I'm writing for those of you on th journey too to let you know from someone who has survived that there is light at the end of the tunnel.

This week, working with my GP or doctor I am coming off some meds. All is going very nicely with a lot of determination, support from family, friends and work colleagues. ( A new kitten has worked wonders too in the distraction field in making me slow down of an evening and weekends.)

One of the hardest lifestyle changes about panic I found was having to give up an evening glass of wine. I didn't know how I could do it at the time, but it was almost over night and I couldn't even look at alcohol, never mind consider a glass.

Months down the track though, I am recovering gently and can now tolerate a glass or two of red wine each evening coming into winter with no illeffects whilst on medication. No panic revisiting and no clash with medication.

I'm not advocating everyone to run out and mix meds with alcohol. However if you are like me and do enjoy a glass of wine or two, don't dispair!!! When you are stable and back on track, life will settle and you will be able to enjoy a fine drop without fear of panic rebound.

I have also sourced some excellent low alcohol wines and champagnes here in Australia. Do read labels. There are some that are as low as 3% and still maintain an excellent dry taste. There is a growing demand for low alcohol wines in the general public and the market supply reflects this.

Don't wish your life away. Enjoy the now. Live your dreams. Remember the world is a mirror to your soul.

Leah

Life is beautiful with or without a glass of wine. That's what i found out after the journey to this hell and shaking hands with frightening devils... I learned to appreciate life to the fullest... With my son, my friends, my families who were always there to support the crisis they don't see... but they feel it 100%...
